Primary Objective:

Audio Technician is responsible for supporting the production of  working in the Audio division. This position will travel to events, set up, work, and tear down and also prep events in the warehouse. A1’s are considered to be in the Advanced stages of the technician ladder and generally work under little to no supervision from Department Managers. A1’s are tasked with beginning to lead and direct crews as well as event prep and execution.

Essential Role and Responsibilities:

Job Duties:

  • Coordinates with Department Manager to generate, understand and navigate event paperwork
  • Works with Artists in advance to get final plots and input lists.
  • Works with office staff to get event binders complete.
  • Ensures that all regulations required for the safe use of all related electrical, Audio/video and rigging equipment be met and maintained concerning all federal and O.S.H.A. requirements
  • Must be able to repair Audio equipment according to the manufacturer guidelines
  • Provides some direction and works with shop staff on all Audio prepping, rigging and power system capabilities and general usage
  • Read, understand and disseminate information regarding Audio paperwork for pertaining shows.
  • Work with and lead Local Staff and Labor to successfully have an event.

Prep:

  • Leads the Preparation of all assigned projects for Audio events
  • Leads the completion of cable, rigging, power plots and set up final equipment for them to review
  • Assist in any Company related event equipment prep where needed

Event Work:

  • Festivals, tours, one-offs, weekend, corporate or any applicable Company event.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Software Knowledge:
    • Advanced knowledge of:
      • Lake: Build Modules and Groups, Networking
      • Array Calc: Measure Rooms and draw in zones: Knowledge of building Arrays, Ability to export to R2.
      • Smaart: Knowledge of setting up multiple inputs, Knowledge of Using Smaart to time align sound systems.
      • Offline console software: Knowledge of how to edit show files offline.
      • Console Knowledge:
      • Digidesign: Set up / adapt show files, Setup desk for multi track recording through Protools
      • Midas: Setup / adapt show files
      • Digico: Setup / adapt show files.
      • Various Analog Desks
    • Hardware Knowledge
      • Advanced knowledge of:
        • Motors, Flying Frames, and Rigging:
          • Understanding of how to use rigging and assist in Marking Points
          • Ability and Understanding of how to Use Chain Motors
          • Understanding of how to set up and maintain Flying Frames.
        • d&b Amplifiers – How to do all onboard Functions, how to patch and wire D80 and D12
        • Microphones and DI’s:
        • Knowledge of a variety of Mic’s and DI’s
        • Ability to recommend adequate substitutions upon seeing an input list.
      • Comprehensive knowledge of how BNP Equipment set up:
      • Comprehensive Knowledge of how to setup and tie in Feeder, and Meter service to a Local service, to generator.
      • Comprehensive knowledge of Asset Servicing
      • Advanced knowledge of:
        • How to Maintain Speaker Boxes: How to test speakers, How to replace drivers
        • Console Maintenance: Replace faders , Clean Surface and Change Filters
        • Cable Maintenance: BNP Wiring Diagrams, How to Test and Repair all Cable Types, How specialty cables are made.
        • Knowledge of BNP Repair / Service Paperwork and procedures
      • Comprehensive knowledge of asset protection
        • Weekly Tour Maintenance
      • Event Knowledge: Ability to mix FOH or MON, Ability to run Patch, Ability to interface additional desks into BNP systems

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Comprehensive knowledge and use of BNP Standard audio documentation: Patch, PA Design
  • 5-10 years in the touring, concert, event industry
  • 5-10 years in managing multiple technical people
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft, Google products and R2.
