Primary Objective: This position requires someone capable of designing complex integrated audio, video and lighting systems for large-scale commercial applications with a particular focus on performance venues. A suitable candidate must have the technical expertise to understand every component’s function within the system and a wide range of software, networking and programming knowledge.
Essential Role and Responsibilities:
- Develop and prepare preliminary AVL system design in coordination with Account Manager for client proposals, including basic phase 1 Bills of Materials (BOM’s) suitable for Estimated Probable Cost (EPC) through phase 3 BOM’s for detailed proposals and firm quotes.
- Prepare SPL mapping models for a wide variety of loudspeaker systems including d&b audiotechnik and L’Acoustics.
- Research and understand new and emerging technology that may be suitable for certain design applications.
- Communicate directly with manufacturers to gather accurate technical information needed to confirm the accuracy of a system design.
- Produce clearly written project scope of work for each aspect of the AV design proposal.
- Produce accurate, professional proposals using JetBuilt, MS Word, Excel and other presentation formats.
- In coordination with BNP’s current CAD Engineering Department, produce schematic, diagrammatical and architectural drawings with an extremely high degree of accuracy and detail. These drawings must be presentable and acceptable to even the most demanding AV industry standards including consultants, architecture firms, and specialized field technicians.
- Review BOM for confirmed projects for accuracy and compatibility. Clarify product models where needed and communicate and coordinate with purchasing and PM to make sure correct equipment, connectors, cabling and miscellaneous items are ordered. This role requires an understanding of the project budget so that changes are not made to increase the overall cost and steps are taken to reduce the cost where possible.
- Produce additional drawings, cable pull schedules, detailed drawings and notes for BNP’s project manager and field technicians to properly execute the desired system design.
- Communicate and coordinate with the Project Manager (PM) throughout all projects to ensure accuracy of the design. Corrections or adjustments as needed.
- Communicate and coordinate with Account Manager (AM) throughout all projects regarding updates, corrections, changes, or modifications that need to be communicated to the client.
- In coordination with BNP’s current CAD Engineering Department, produce As-Builts, user guides, and other system operation documents if required.
- Available for after-hours / weekend technical support including remote login capabilities if needed.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- College degree is preferred but not required. 3-5 years industry experience is preferred (2 year minimum required). Sales experience is preferred but not required.
- CTS and/or CTS-D preferred
- SketchUp Pro, AutoCAD, Visio, Revit experience is preferred
- Familiarity with EASE 4.4 or higher is preferred
- Q-SYS Level 1 required. Q-SYS Level 2 preferred.
- Familiarity with SMAART V8-V9 is preferred
- Familiarity with D&b audiotechnik ArrayCalc and R1v2
- Familiarity with L’Acoustics SoundVision
- IP Networking experience is preferred
- Basic knowledge of construction trades is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $75,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
